Pune’s PCMC Launches Innovative Campaign “Tu Kardata, Tu Karvita” to Recognize Responsible Taxpayers

Pimpri, August 24, 2023: Building on the successful “Memes” and “Reels” competitions, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s tax collection department is embarking on another innovative venture to promote tax compliance within the community. The upcoming campaign titled “Tu Kardata, Tu Karvita” aims to extend gratitude to diligent taxpayers for their significant contributions in property tax payments, which have played a vital role in strengthening the civic finances.

Property tax serves as a crucial revenue source for the tax collection department, serving as a cornerstone in the municipality’s financial structure. The “Tu Kardata, Tu Karvita” campaign will creatively highlight the positive influence that responsible taxpayers’ contributions have exerted on the lives of ordinary citizens. In just the first four months of the current fiscal year, the taxation and tax collection department has managed to gather nearly Rs 500 crores in taxes.

This campaign intends to illustrate how citizens’ tax payments have directly translated into benefits for underprivileged sections of society. It will shed light on instances where medical facilities, educational financial aid, concessions for vulnerable groups, support for the disabled, women, and children, along with grants and welfare programs for marginalized communities, have significantly improved lives. Leveraging various communication platforms such as social media, news coverage, videos, audio content, and informative signage, the tax collection department seeks to effectively convey these transformative outcomes.

The tax collection department has consistently prioritized citizen engagement through initiatives like “Kar Samvad” and a 24/7 helpline. The upcoming “Tu Kardata, Tu Karvita” campaign is a continuation of these efforts, underlining the department’s commitment to fostering transparent communication and cooperation with the public, as emphasized by Nilesh Deshmukh, the department’s head.

By dutifully fulfilling their civic responsibilities through property tax payments in both the past and current fiscal years, conscientious citizens have made a significant contribution. The “Tu Kardata, Tu Karvita” campaign stands as an expression of gratitude for these contributions, while also highlighting the far-reaching impacts of the municipality’s initiatives on the lives of its residents. Shekhar Singh, Commissioner, and Administrator of PCMC, considers this campaign an integral facet of municipal responsibility, reflecting the municipality’s unwavering commitment to its citizens.
