In a testament to the courage and swift action of Pune’s firefighting heroes, a massive fire incident unfolded within the premises of the Aura Ice and Cold Company, located in Bhosari’s Landewadi area, on the 21st of October at approximately 3:30 p.m. Thanks to the prompt response of the fire brigade, a potentially catastrophic situation was averted.
Rescue and Recovery Efforts
At the time of the incident, the company had already closed for the day, with only four individuals remaining on-site. Tragically, two of them were situated on the third floor as the fire broke out. In a desperate attempt to escape the flames, they made a courageous leap from the building, though this led to injuries. Presently, both individuals are under medical care at Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial Hospital in Pimpri. Thankfully, the other two occupants managed to exit the premises unscathed.
The Fire’s Origin
The company was reportedly in the midst of a demolition process, and preliminary investigations suggest that the fire may have originated during metal-cutting operations. While the exact cause of the fire remains unconfirmed, there is speculation that the presence of thermocol on the ground floor may have contributed to the flames’ intensity.
Bravery in Action
The fire brigade’s rapid response was instrumental in containing the fire. With the dispatch of two fire brigade vehicles and the concerted efforts of approximately 15 fire brigade personnel, the situation was brought under control. Local police also played a pivotal role in assisting with the firefighting efforts.
