Pune Drug Bust: Mephedrone Worth Rs 13 Lakh Seized, Two Arrested in Chikhali”

In a significant crackdown on drug-related activities, the Pimpri Chinchwad Police have apprehended two individuals in the Chikhali area of Pune for their alleged involvement in procuring and selling mephedrone, a potent synthetic drug. A case pertaining to this operation has been officially registered at the Chikhali Police Station, underscoring the dedication of law enforcement to curbing drug-related issues.

According to law enforcement sources, officials from the Anti Narcotics Cell received crucial information regarding individuals attempting to distribute mephedrone in the Chikhali locality. Acting promptly on this tip, the police orchestrated an operation, leading to the apprehension of two suspects: Ramkumar Jeevan Mishra (42), a resident of Nalasopara in Palghar district, and Abdul Musharraf Ali Kalim, also known as Siddiqui (35), a resident of Kudalwadi in Chikhali.

During the operation, the police confiscated a substantial amount of mephedrone, weighing approximately 116 grams, with an estimated street value of Rs 13,35,590. Not only were the illicit substances seized, but the motorcycles and mobile phones used by the accused in connection with the offense were also taken into custody.

In response to these developments, a case has been filed under sections 8(c), 22(c), and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, enhancing the seriousness of the charges against the accused. The legal proceedings and investigation into the matter are currently ongoing, as the authorities work diligently to bring those involved in the illegal drug trade to justice.
