Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate Cracks Down on Organized Crime: 12 Gangs Booked Under MCOCA

Pune, Chinchwad: In a resolute move against organized crime, the Pimpri Chinchwad Commissionerate, led by Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey, has taken decisive action against 12 gangs under the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA). With the primary objective of ensuring peace and security in the industrial town, the Commissionerate aims to dismantle criminal networks engaging in violent activities.

Commissioner Choubey, since assuming charge, has prioritized crime control, directing all police personnel to adopt a zero-tolerance approach towards criminal elements. The recent crackdown under MCOCA is a testament to the Commissionerate’s commitment to eradicating organized crime and enhancing public safety in the region.

By the end of December 2023, a total of 60 accused individuals associated with 12 organized crime gangs have faced legal action. Notably, this brings the total count of accused individuals booked under MCOCA to 357 from 51 organized crime gangs in Pimpri Chinchwad.

Individual Gang Actions:

  1. Wakad Gang: Investigation under IPC sections 395, 323, 506(2), and more.
  2. Chakan Gang: Case involves IPC sections 395, 364(A), 387, and 120B.
  3. Nigdi Gang: Probed for IPC sections 302, 307, 326, 324, and more.
  4. Pimpri Gang: Case includes IPC sections 307, 323, 506, and others.
  5. Pimpri Extortion Gang: Investigation under IPC sections 386, 387, and more.
  6. Sangvi Gang: Offences under IPC sections 392, 34, and 411.
  7. Nigdi Robbery Gang: Investigated for IPC sections 392, 414, and 34.
  8. Bhosari Gang: Case involves IPC sections 387, 385, 504, and others.
  9. Sangvi Robbery Gang: Probed for IPC sections 392, 34, and 411.
  10. Sangvi Violent Gang: Investigation includes IPC sections 307, 143, 147, and more.
  11. Chikhali Gang: Investigated under IPC sections 395, 397, 504, and others.
  12. Sangvi Robbery Gang (Second Case): Probed for IPC sections 392, 411, and 34.

The Commissionerate’s crackdown targeted gangs engaging in violence to establish dominance, create terror, and gain financial benefits through illicit means. The crimes span from murder and attempted murder to robbery, theft, extortion, and more, showcasing a pattern of escalating violence.

Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey, along with key personnel including Joint Commissioner Dr. Sanjay Shinde, Additional Commissioner Vasant Pardeshi, and Deputy Commissioners Vivek Patil, Kakasaheb Dole, Swapna Gore, and Sandeep Doifade, spearheaded the operation. The successful outcome is attributed to the coordinated efforts of Assistant Commissioners, Senior Police Inspectors, and Constables involved in the crackdown.
