PCMC Takes Progressive Step: Plans Dedicated Burn Ward in Civic Hospital

In a significant move to enhance healthcare facilities, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is in the process of establishing a dedicated burn ward in one of its civic hospitals. The initiative is set to revolutionize the treatment of burn victims, ensuring prompt and specialized care.

PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh conducted a crucial meeting on Friday with officials from the medical department to deliberate on potential sites, standards, and the capacity of the proposed burn ward.

The primary objective of the proposed burn ward is to cater to the treatment and rehabilitation needs of burn patients. The project will involve the construction, alteration, renovation, or modification of existing structures within the civic limits. Additionally, manpower will be engaged, and equipment purchases will be made to ensure the facility is well-equipped to handle burn cases. The burn ward will also provide follow-up and rehabilitation services to the patients.

The officials have indicated that the preliminary bed capacity of the proposed burn ward may range from 15 to 30 beds, with a final decision expected to be made in subsequent meetings.

The commissioner is scheduled to conduct site visits in the coming week, inspecting the shortlisted locations to finalize the best-suited site for the burn ward.

The meeting held on Friday saw the participation of key officials, including Additional Commissioner Shri Vijay Khorate, City Engineer Makrand Nikam, Medical Officer of Health Dr. Laxman Gophane, Additional Medical Officer Dr. Abhay Dadewar, YCMH Dean Dr. Rajendra Wabale, Joint City Engineer Shri Dnyandev Jundhare, and Medical Officer Dr. Shrikant Supekar.

This proactive step taken by PCMC showcases a commitment to addressing burn injuries with specialized care. The dedicated burn ward will not only provide medical treatment but also offer support to victims on their journey to recovery, addressing both physical and psychological trauma.
