PIMPRI: The water supply system of the water purification centre at Nigdi would be shut on October 5 for repairs and maintenance. After water is supplied on Thursday morning, there will be no supply in the evening. On October 6, the water supply would be disrupted, informed Joint City Engineer Shrikant Savne.
The residents of Pimpri and Chinchwad are supplied water from the Pavana dam in Maval region. Unclean water is lifted from the bandhara at Ravet and it is purified at sector 23 in Nigdi and supplied to the residents. Regular repairs and maintenance activity is going to be carried out at the water purification centre. Hence, the water supply system would be closed on Thursday.
The water will be supplied on Thursday morning. But later, due to the repair work, water will not be supplied in the evening. Since the water supply system would be closed due to maintenance, the water supply would be disrupted on Friday morning. Hence, the Water Supply Department of the PMC has appealed to people to use water judiciously.
