PCMC Introduces Sarathi Helpline Number for Water-Related Concerns

Pune, August 17, 2023: In a novel approach to tackle water-related issues faced by residents, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has launched a dedicated Sarathi helpline number. As part of this initiative, designated representatives have been appointed, and a helpline number has been established.

Residents can now register complaints by dialing the Sarathi Helpline at 8888006666 or the Water Supply Complaint Cell at (722) 206-0999, which is operational round-the-clock. Reports indicate that specific helpline numbers and personnel have been assigned for addressing water supply grievances.

Despite having an ample water supply in Pavana Dam, the PCMC has been implementing an alternate-day water supply due to issues such as leaks, theft, and inconsistent distribution since November 25, 2019. Technical problems like power failures, pump malfunctions, and pipeline ruptures have also contributed to these challenges.

The Pavana Dam currently holds 96 percent of its water capacity. Consequently, citizens expected to receive daily water supply. However, to ensure equitable distribution, the PCMC decided to continue with the alternate-day supply approach. The water supply schedule is accessible on the PCMC’s official website (pcmcindia.gov.in). Contact details of deputy engineers and junior engineers responsible for water-related concerns in different wards are also provided on the website. If these contacts are not responsive, citizens are encouraged to reach out to the executive engineers of their respective wards. Additionally, the assistant city engineer is available for further assistance.

Shrikant Sawane, Assistant City Engineer in the Water Supply Department of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, elaborated, “The Sarathi helpline number has been introduced to address water-related concerns. The water supply schedules are prominently displayed on the PCMC website. We urge citizens to connect with officials responsible for their specific wards. We are reiterating these instructions as many residents were previously unaware of these resources.”

The introduction of the Sarathi helpline number reflects PCMC’s commitment to enhancing citizen engagement and resolving crucial water-related issues in the region.
