Nigdi Water Treatment Plant Maintenance to Temporarily Halt Pimpri-Chinchwad’s Water Supply

Pune : Residents of Pimpri-Chinchwad, a bustling city in the Pune Metropolitan Region, are advised to prepare for a brief water supply disruption on October 5 and 6 due to scheduled maintenance work at the Nigdi water treatment plant. Joint City Engineer Shrikant Sawane has announced this essential maintenance operation.

The maintenance work at the Nigdi water treatment plant is scheduled to commence on the evening of October 5, affecting the regular Thursday evening water supply. Additionally, residents should anticipate a disruption in the morning water supply on Friday, October 6.

The city’s water supply relies on sourcing water from the Pavana Dam in Maval, which is subsequently treated at the Nigdi water treatment plant after being channeled through Rawet. The maintenance efforts are aimed at preserving the long-term efficiency and safety of the water supply system, which includes various components of the distribution network.

Given the impending maintenance operation, the water supply department of the municipal corporation has issued an advisory, urging residents to exercise prudence in their water consumption during this period of disruption. The citywide nature of the maintenance work underscores the importance of responsible water usage among citizens.

This temporary water supply disruption is a proactive measure to maintain and enhance the reliability of the water supply system, ultimately ensuring that residents continue to receive clean and safe water in the long run.
