Maratha Bandh: Pimpri-Chinchwad Unites in Support of Manoj Jarange Patil’s Hunger Strike

Despite the sanctioned reservation for the Sakal Maratha community, Pimpri Chinchwad is gearing up for a Bandh on Wednesday. The delayed implementation of reservation by the state government has spurred this action, with Manoj Jarange Patil leading a hunger strike for the past three days, demanding a special session of the state legislature to address the issue. In solidarity with Patil’s cause, the Sakal Maratha community has called for a city-wide shutdown in Pimpri-Chinchwad.

The bandh has gained support from the Maratha Kranti Morcha and Sakal Maratha Samaj, leading to a scheduled rally within the city on Wednesday. This move follows earlier demonstrations in Mumbai, where Chief Minister Eknath Shinde initially agreed to the demands of Patil and his associates, resulting in the withdrawal of their hunger strike and suspension of agitation.

The objectives of this movement include the conversion of issued ordinances into law, the withdrawal of cases against reservation protests across Maharashtra, and the fulfillment of promises made to the Maratha community. Patil’s ongoing hunger strike underscores the urgency for a special legislative session to address these concerns.

Wednesday’s city shutdown aims for peaceful advocacy, featuring a significant two-wheeler and four-wheeler rally organized by the Sakal Maratha Samaj of Pimpri-Chinchwad city and Maval taluka. Starting with a tribute to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at Dange Chowk Thergaon, the rally will proceed through various landmarks, including Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Chowk, Chinchwad Station, and Vadgaon.

Led by organizers such as Satish Kale, Sachin Barne, and Prakash Jadhav, along with numerous activists, the rally symbolizes a collective push for the realization of Maratha community rights and demands.
