Pimpri Chinchwad, Maharashtra – In a collaborative effort to maintain harmony and ensure the smooth celebration of Ganeshotsav and Eid-e-Milad, a crucial meeting was recently convened at the police headquarters. The meeting brought together community leaders, the peace committee, police officials, and prominent citizens, all focused on preventing untoward incidents and maintaining law and order during these festive occasions.
Commissioner of Police Vinay Kumar Choubey presided over the gathering and provided reassurance that both Ganeshotsav and Eid-e-Milad would be celebrated joyously without any disruptions.
The meeting witnessed the participation of several prominent figures, including Member of Parliament Shrirang Barne, Members of Legislative Assembly Dilip Mohite Patil and Uma Khapare, Joint Commissioner of Police Dr. Sanjay Shinde, Additional Commissioner of Police Vasant Pardeshi, police officers, and notable citizens from diverse communities spanning all police station jurisdictions.
Robust Vigilance for Peaceful Celebrations
During the upcoming Ganeshotsav festivities, the police force, in collaboration with Gram Rakshak, Vigilance Committee, and Peace Committee members, will maintain a vigilant watch to ensure safety and order. To bolster their efforts, each zone will be assisted by five workers. Special instructions have been issued to address potential disputes that may arise from certain mandals prolonging their stay at one location during immersion processions.
Celebrating with Enthusiasm
Police Commissioner Vinaykumar Choubey emphasized that both Ganeshotsav and Eid-e-Milad would be celebrated with great enthusiasm and in a joyous atmosphere. He clarified that the use of loudspeakers during these celebrations is permitted by the State Government and authorized by the Collector, following Supreme Court rules.
Responsible Celebration Encouraged
To ensure responsible celebrations, everyone is urged to adhere to the time limits approved by the Collector for operating loudspeakers until midnight. Furthermore, the police, in collaboration with the municipal corporation, will initiate a campaign to clear road encroachments. Dedicated crime branch teams have been deployed to prevent theft incidents during Ganeshotsav, and the Damini team is prepared to ensure the safety of women.
Enhanced Safety Measures
In an effort to enhance safety during immersion ceremonies, volunteers with swimming skills will be accompanied by lifeguards, and NDRF teams will provide assistance. This year, Ganesh Mandals will be eligible for the Moraya Award at the circle level. An online facility has been introduced to streamline permissions for Ganeshotsav Mandals. Importantly, police stations in the city will remain operational, ensuring citizens can seek assistance at checkpoints.
Community Recognition and Honoring Excellence
MP Shrirang Barne underscored the importance of police facilitation for Ganeshotsav mandals and the need for security at the Visarjan Ghats while maintaining smooth traffic flow. Given the large crowds during Ganeshotsav, the police are on heightened alert to prevent theft. Barne also emphasized the significance of amicably resolving any issues that may arise.
The police plan to honor the top Ganeshotsav mandals in the city through the Morya Nyas initiative. A committee, comprising members from Ganapati Mandal and the Security Committee, will be appointed to oversee this recognition. Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey revealed that the best circles will be acknowledged and rewarded through this program, with award criteria determined by the overseeing committee. Similar initiatives are being carried out in Pune city through Vighnaharta Nyas and Pimpri Chinchwad city.
