In a proactive move towards fostering democratic participation, the Election Commission (EC) has initiated a special two-day voter registration campaign in the Chinchwad constituency of Pune. Scheduled for November 25 and 26, the drive aims to maximize voter registration ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Nilesh Deshmukh, the Electoral Registration Officer of 205 Chinchwad Assembly Constituency and Assistant Commissioner of the Tax Collection Department, has extended a special invitation to the youth and those yet to register. A voter registration camp will be operational at every polling station in Chinchwad from 10 am to 5 pm during the campaign period.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced a special summary revision program on January 1, 2024, with the objective of including citizens currently deprived of voting rights. To kickstart this program, a dedicated campaign is set for November 25 and 26 to facilitate the smooth registration of voters.

For those aspiring to register as new voters, the process involves completing Form No. 6. Foreign voters are advised to fill out Form No. 6A. Existing voters requiring an update of their Aadhaar information can utilize Form No. 6B. Form No. 7 is designated for objections, while those applying for transfer, duplicate, or identification as persons with disabilities should use Form No. 8.

The Chinchwad Constituency, characterized by a registered voter gender ratio of 910, has launched a targeted campaign at the ward level. The initiative aims to encourage participation from various segments, including women, transgenders, construction workers, co-operative societies, industrial establishment employees, and individuals with disabilities.

Following Election Commission guidelines, the special two-day initiative is designed to facilitate voter registration at the 205 polling stations, including the Chinchwad Constituency Office and Yashwantrao Chavan Secondary School, Thergaon. Additionally, citizens unable to attend in person can register through the online portal Voters.eci.gov.in or via the Voter Helpline App.
