Electricity Outage Disrupts Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad: 400 kV Transmission Line Failure Causes Temporary Disruptions in Multiple Areas

Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad experienced a temporary power outage today following a fault in the 400 kV transmission line connecting Shikrapur to Talegaon. The disruption occurred in the high-voltage transmission line operated by Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL). To manage the situation, Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) is implementing load management strategies to provide power through alternative systems. However, periodic load regulation may be experienced in certain areas until the issue is resolved.

Transmission Line Disruption

At approximately 9 am today, one of the four 400 kV ultra-high voltage transmission lines owned by PGCIL encountered a fault near Talegaon MIDC. This disruption led to the suspension of around 355 megawatts of electricity transmission. As a result, the power supply in various areas was affected, including Pimpri village, Rahatni, Pimpale Saudagar, Kalewadi, Chinchwad village, Walhekarwadi, Rawet, Dehu Road, Kharadi, old Mundhwa, Thitewadi, Theur, Perne, Shikrapur, Koregaon Bhima, Sanswadi, Koregaon, and others.

Repair Efforts and Load Management

Efforts are underway to repair the 400 kV ultra-high voltage transmission lines operated by the power grid with utmost urgency. However, it is estimated that the repairs will take approximately seven to eight hours to complete. In the meantime, MSETCL and MSEDCL are working collaboratively to ensure alternate power supply through load management techniques. This may involve implementing periodic load regulation in certain areas to manage the available power resources effectively.

The recent power outage in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad caused by a fault in the 400 kV transmission line has led to temporary disruptions in multiple areas. The Power Grid Corporation of India Limited is actively working to repair the transmission lines, but the process is expected to take several hours. In the meantime, Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited is employing load management strategies to provide alternative power supply to the affected areas. Efforts are being made to minimize the inconvenience caused by the outage, and regular updates will be provided regarding the progress of repairs and restoration of power supply.
