Clean Sweep: Pimpri Chinchwad Regional Offices Triumph in Cleanliness Competition

Pimpri, 18th October 2023: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has reason to celebrate after excelling in the “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Nagari 2.0” campaign, conducted from September 15 to October 2, 2023, in accordance with the directives of the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India. This extensive campaign aimed to enhance the cleanliness and hygiene of the region as part of the broader Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.

Highlight of the Campaign

A pivotal element of the campaign was the “One Day One Hour” cleanliness drive held on October 1, coinciding with Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary. This one-hour initiative, commencing at 10 a.m., witnessed active participation from citizens, social workers, municipal officials, and the esteemed Commissioner and Administrator, Shekhar Singh.

The cleanliness drive spanned 100 locations across eight regional offices under the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. In line with the spirit of the “Swachata Hi Seva” campaign, this endeavor aimed to strengthen the commitment to cleanliness and sanitation.

Felicitation of Excellence

Commissioner Shekhar Singh, acknowledging the exceptional contributions during the campaign, organized a regional-level competition to applaud the remarkable work undertaken by regional offices and wards. At the felicitation ceremony, Regional Officer Sitaram Bahure, Assistant Health Officer Shantaram Mane, and Chief Health Inspector Kanchankumar Indalkar of the F Regional Office secured the first rank, receiving badges and certificates of merit.

The second rank was claimed by Regional Officer Rajesh Agale and Assistant Health Officer Rajesh Bhatt of the E Regional Office. Meanwhile, Amit Pandit, Regional Officer of the B Regional Office, and Assistant Health Officer Mahadev Shinde clinched the third rank, along with medals and certificates in recognition of their unwavering dedication.

The event saw the presence of Additional Commissioners Pradeep Jambhale Patil, Vijaykumar Khorate, and Ulhas Jagtap, along with Coordinator and Assistant Commissioner Yashwant Dange of Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, as well as department heads. The recognition and appreciation at the ceremony underscore the commitment of Pimpri Chinchwad to the cleanliness and hygiene ideals promoted by the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
