Parbhani Medical College

430 bed hospital attached to the new Government Medical College at Parbhani in the Marathwada region

Mumbai, July 9 (UNI) – The 430-bed hospital attached to the new Government Medical College at Parbhani in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra with a capacity of 100 students has received the approval of the Central Government, and admissions will start this academic year, informed medical education minister Girish Mahajan.

As stated in his official press statement issued last night, this is the 25th Government Medical College in the state. Only 11 government medical colleges have been established in the last 60 years after independence, according to Mahajan. So 10 Government Medical Colleges have been started in the state in nine years, from 2014 to 2023.

Therefore, thousands of new doctors will be trained every year, and health services will be expanded across the state.

The way for admission to medical education at Parbhani has been cleared, and the 11th Government Medical College has started in the last nine years.

Also, as the cabinet approved the proposal to start new government medical colleges in nine districts where there are no government medical colleges, government medical colleges will be started in every district.

A unique initiative of starting 11 new government medical colleges in the last nine years has been done through the government.

Currently, according to the World Health Organisation standard, one doctor per 1,000 population is required.

But at present, the number of doctors in the state is low in proportion to the population, but the government is trying its best to provide good health care to every citizen, he said.

Since most of the posts of doctors in the medical education department as well as in the public health department are vacant, medical colleges are being started in every district to provide basic health facilities to the people of the semi-urban, rural, and remote areas of the state and also to provide adequate manpower.

So every year, 100 new trained doctors will be ready to provide medical services in the state, he added.
