NCP condemns conduct of teacher in Muzaffarnagar

Sharad Pawar

Mumbai, Aug 26 (UNI) In response to the distressing incident reported by media involving a teacher in Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh who instructed students to allegedly slap a Muslim boy, the NCP (Sharad Pawar group) on Saturday vehemently condemned his action, saying that it goes against the fundamental values of inclusivity and harmony in society.

Talking to reporters here, NCP chief spokesperson Mahesh Tapase said, “It is deeply concerning to witness incidents of this nature in our educational institutions, where nurturing an environment of understanding and acceptance should be paramount.”

Noting that the party recognises the importance of upholding the principles of secularism and unity, he said, “We firmly believe that actions that promote discrimination or hatred based on caste, religion, or race have no place in our diverse and culturally rich nation.”

Expressing concern over the alarming rise in incidents that indicate a growing divide along caste and racial lines under the (Prime Minister Narendra) Modi rule, the NCP leader said, “Our social fabric is now facing significant challenges due to these divisive forces.”

He called upon the government to take immediate and stringent measures to address such incidents, both within educational institutions and across society at large.

“It is imperative that educational institutions play a pivotal role in fostering an environment that nurtures tolerance, empathy, and unity among students of diverse backgrounds,” added Tapase.
