Chief Minister Mr Eknath Shinde’s appeal for statewide campaign on October 1st

Mumbai :- “Let us voluntarily participate in the ‘1 Tarikh- 1 Taas’ (Date 1, One hour) cleanliness drive to be implemented on 1st of October and take efforts to make Maharashtra as the leading state in the nation,” this appeal is made by the chief minister Mr Eknath Shinde.

On Sunday, 1st of October under the campaign Swachhata Pandharwada, Swachhata hich Seva (Cleanliness fortnight, cleanliness is service), the 1 Tarik- 1 Taas initiative is going to be implemented in all the city, urban and rural areas across the state. Under this venture, everyone, wherever they may be, will participate in the cleanliness drive by cleaning the place in their vicinity. This initiative will be implemented from 10 a.m. on Sunday in each and every village, city and every ward. The Safai Mitras will also be participating in this campaign. At some places special camps and exhibitions related to the importance of cleanliness will be organized which will create awareness among the people about the necessity of cleanliness, its benefits and its importance.

In his appeal to the people of the state, Chief Minister Mr Eknath Shinde said, “Cleanliness is a very essential factor in our daily life. It brings prosperity in the lives of people. There exists a strong relation between health and cleanliness in the surrounding environment. Beginning from the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi, many great national personalities Saints and Sadhu’s had taught us lessons about cleanliness and with this consideration we all have to make this Swachata Pandharwada- Swachhata hIch Seva campaign successful. 1 Tarikh- 1 Taas initiative is to be made ‘Public Revolution’ and for this everybody will have to give one hour for cleanliness. We, our family members, our associates wherever we are, we will implement and participate in this cleanliness drive and contribute to it”.

Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi had inaugurated the Swachh Maharashtra Nagari Abhiyan-2 in the state, a year ago. So we are marching forward taking this campaign ahead and making Maharashtra free from garbage by keeping it clean. The chief minister further says that many great personalities of Maharashtra had given the Mantra of keeping the vicinity clean and connecting it with healthy habits. He said that Saint Gadge Baba took the broom in his hand and started cleaning the surroundings and in this way taught the nation to keep the environment clean by doing it himself. Now we have to refresh the teaching. We will be implementing the cleanliness drive in our vicinity with the initiation of the Municipal corporations, municipalities, Nagar Panchayat and Gram Panchayat in various villages. During this drive, we will clean all the stalled garbage, the debris and other wastage. All the local governing bodies, revenue department and district administration will be alert for helping all of you, the Chief Minister said.

In his message Mr Eknath Shinde further appeals, “Cleanliness is in fact a habit. We should be adopting the discipline of cleanliness in our vicinity. It should be made a part of the upbringing. After this campaign, we have to implement the Mukhyamantri Saksham Shahar competition and Chief Minister Saksham Ward competition up to 15th of December 2023 and we also have to make them successful. This initiative should be made 100 percent successful and it should be ascertained that Maharashtra stands first in the entire nation in the cleanliness drive. Come on let us make Maharashtra free from Garbage, make it clean and beautiful. Let us embrace health and prosperity, let us bring awareness about cleanliness.
