Navi Mumbai Pet Care Center Employee Booked for Animal Abuse

Shocking CCTV Footage Reveals Disturbing Treatment of Dogs, Legal Action Initiated

The Koparkhairane police have taken swift action against a 20-year-old man employed at Groom Box Pet Care Centre in Navi Mumbai following allegations of severe animal abuse. The disturbing incident came to light after the center’s owner, Lalima Thakur, uncovered shocking CCTV footage showing the employee, Dilip Kumar Sahu, mistreating several dogs under his care.

Thakur, a passionate pet owner herself, was deeply troubled upon discovering the footage, which captured Sahu assaulting seven dogs with objects such as wooden sticks, belts, and iron chains. Additionally, Sahu was seen punching and forcefully handling the dogs, leading Thakur to take immediate action.

In a statement, Thakur expressed her dismay at the horrific treatment of the animals, emphasizing that concerns over theft paled in comparison to the welfare of the pets. She promptly terminated Sahu’s employment and sought legal counsel from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) to ensure justice for the traumatized animals.

Following the revelations, Thakur filed a case against Sahu with the Koparkhairane police on April 8, underscoring the importance of holding him accountable for his actions. Senior police inspector Audumbar Patil confirmed that the police would gather evidence from veterinarians and dog owners to support the charges against Sahu under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.

Thakur remains resolute in her commitment to safeguarding the well-being of animals and has vowed to find a professional, trained replacement before resuming business operations at the pet care center.
