Mumbai, the bustling metropolis that never sleeps, has commenced the much-anticipated Mumbai Festival 2024, a nine-day extravaganza set to captivate residents and visitors alike. Running from January 20 to 28, the festival promises a dynamic blend of cultural, artistic, and sporting events, with the iconic Kala Ghoda Arts Festival and the Mumbai Marathon taking center stage.
Endorsed by a substantial Rs 25 crore investment from the Maharashtra government, the festival is poised to offer immersive experiences, spotlighting Mumbai’s essence through various facets of life, including art, culture, sports, and fashion. Industrialist Anand Mahindra, chairperson of the festival’s advisory committee, described the festival’s approach as the “bear hug model,” emphasizing inclusivity and community engagement.
Under the theme “Everyone’s Invited,” Mumbai Festival 2024 aims to mirror the diverse and inclusive spirit of the city. Highlights of the festival include Mumbai Walks, where influential personalities pay tribute to local heroes such as dabbawalas, police officers, bus drivers, and civic employees. The celebration extends to Happy Streets, Yoga By The Bay, Kidzathon, movie screenings, and a shop-and-win festival encompassing retail and dining outlets.
Girish Mahajan, the state tourism minister, underscored that Mumbai Festival 2024 is not just an event but a transformative experience. With aspirations to become one of India’s largest annual celebrations, the festival unfolds across various locations, promising unparalleled joy and showcasing the vibrant spirit and rich heritage of Mumbai.
