In a late-night incident on February 12th, 2024, a massive fire engulfed the Highway Break Hotel located on the ground floor of the Satyam Heritage building in sector 10, Kharghar. The fire, which began at 1:30 AM, prompted a swift response from the Kharghar Fire Brigade, preventing any reported fatalities despite extensive damage to the hotel’s interior.
As the hotel was closed at the time of the incident, no guests or staff were present within the premises. However, upon the arrival of the fire brigade, the hotel staff and management opened the doors to facilitate access for the firefighters. Unfortunately, by that time, the fire had already spread throughout the entire hotel.
The Kharghar Fire Brigade team acted promptly, initiating efforts to extinguish the fire and conducting a thorough cooling process that lasted approximately an hour. While no casualties were reported, the hotel’s interior suffered significant damage, including harm to furniture and decorations.
Pravin Bokade, the fire officer at the Khargar fire station, disclosed that the preliminary investigation points to a short circuit in the hotel’s kitchen as the cause of the fire. Further inquiries and investigations will be conducted to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of fire safety measures and highlights the critical role played by emergency response teams in averting potential tragedies.
