Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar wishes people on Independence Day

Mumbai, Aug 15 (UNI) Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar paid tribute to the freedom fighters who fought for the country’s independence from colonial rule and wished the countrymen on the 76th anniversary of independence on Tuesday.

Pawar congratulated the police, fire, civil defence force, home guard force officers and soldiers of the state who were decorated with the President’s Medal, and Seva Medal on the eve of Independence Day for their outstanding performance and remarkable service.

“The country got its freedom through the sacrifices made by many generations of our forefathers. In the last 76 years, many sons of Mother India sacrificed their lives to get the freedom of the country and to maintain the freedom gained, to maintain the unity, integrity and sovereignty of the country. Today is the day to remember the sacrifices of all of them and commit to strengthening democracy in the country,” said Pawar.

He said the country was proud of the hard work by its citizens. “Keeping this unity like this, let the citizens of all castes, religions and creeds come together and resolve to make the country a world power,” he added.

Pawar appealed to the people to strengthen the unity, integrity, sovereignty and democracy of the country.
