In a surprising turn of events, popular comedian Kapil Sharma finds himself in the midst of a legal controversy as he appeared at the Enforcement Directorate (ED) office in connection with a case involving car designer Dilip Chhabria. The renowned designer is accused of defrauding several celebrities, and Kapil Sharma’s case adds a new layer to the ongoing investigation.
The ED alleges that Dilip Chhabria failed to deliver a vanity van that was ordered by Kapil Sharma through his production house, K9 Productions. Sharma claims that he became the target of an orchestrated plan after the vehicle was not delivered, accusing Chhabria of attempting to frame him and extort money.
As part of the charge sheet filed against Chhabria, the Enforcement Directorate recorded the statement of comedian Kapil Sharma’s official representative, Mohammad Hamid. The special court overseeing the case has issued summons to Chhabria and six other accused individuals, requiring them to appear in court on February 26.
The ED’s case is built on three FIRs, including the cheating case filed by Kapil Sharma himself. According to Sharma’s representative, the comedian approached Chhabria in December 2016 to purchase a vanity van. A contract worth Rs 4.5 crore was signed in March 2017 between K9 Productions and Dilip Chhabria Design Private Limited for the delivery of the vanity van.
Despite the terms of the contract and the payment of Rs 5.31 crore (including taxes) by Kapil Sharma’s production house, the vanity van was not delivered, and the money was not returned. Furthermore, Sharma’s representative alleges that additional funds were demanded by blaming Sharma for the non-delivery of the vehicle.
This unexpected legal tussle has brought the comedy star into the spotlight for reasons far removed from his usual on-screen humor. As the investigation unfolds, the entertainment industry watches closely, waiting for the resolution of this unexpected legal drama.
