Meerut Metro Project Gains Momentum with Arrival of First Train Set

In a significant stride towards transforming urban mobility, the Meerut Metro project achieved a pivotal milestone with the arrival of its first train set at the Duhai Depot in Ghaziabad. This development not only marks progress in the project timeline but also signals the advent of a modern, efficient, and sustainable transportation system for the city of Meerut. Let’s delve into the key facets of this landmark event:

Arrival and Assembly: The first train set, comprising three coaches, reached the Duhai Depot on large trailers, ushering in a crucial phase of assembly and extensive testing. Scheduled for thorough scrutiny to ensure safety and efficiency, the arrival of the train set on the night of February 27 is a significant advancement in the Meerut Metro project.

Innovative Design and Features: Under the ‘Make in India’ initiative, the Meerut Metro train set boasts an advanced design featuring low energy consumption, lightweight construction, and automated technologies such as Automatic Train Protection (ATP), Automatic Train Operation (ATO), and Automatic Train Control (ATC). With a top speed of 120 kilometers per hour, it promises a harmonious blend of speed, safety, and sustainability.

Enhancing Urban Mobility: The Meerut Metro envisions providing Meerut residents with a fast, safe, and modern transportation alternative. The introduction of the metro train set sets the stage for imminent trial runs, paving the way for a transformative urban transit solution. The Meerut Metro corridor, spanning 23 kilometers with 13 stations, is rapidly moving towards completion.

A Technological Marvel: The recent unveiling of the Meerut Metro train set by NCRTC’s MD, Mr. Vinay Kumar Singh, showcases the technological advancements embedded in the project. Manufactured in Savli, Gujarat, by Alstom, these train sets represent a noteworthy achievement in indigenous manufacturing and engineering excellence.

Future-Ready Infrastructure: Setting a precedent, the Meerut Metro and the NamO Bharat trains will operate on the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS infrastructure. The integration is supported by the European Train Control System (ETCS) Level 2, upgraded with Hybrid Level 3 for long-term evolution, ensuring uninterrupted service and operational excellence.
