DMRC Revolutionizes Last-Mile Connectivity: Launches 683 New E-Autos for a Greener Commute

In a major stride towards enhancing last-mile connectivity and promoting eco-friendly commuting, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is set to introduce 683 additional electric auto-rickshaws (E-Autos). This initiative aims to revolutionize the way passengers commute from metro stations to their final destinations, offering a more convenient and sustainable option.

Rollout of New E-Autos: Transforming the Commuting Landscape DMRC has officially opened applications for auto operating agencies, inviting them to be part of this groundbreaking initiative. The new fleet of E-Autos is strategically designed to operate as feeder services, covering an 8-kilometer radius around metro stations. This expansion addresses the critical need for efficient last-mile connectivity, providing passengers with a seamless transition from metro travel to their doorstep.

Empowering Women Drivers: A Step Towards Inclusivity In alignment with the Delhi Government’s Transport Department, DMRC has allocated a total of 2299 E-Auto permits. Notably, 663 permits are reserved exclusively for women drivers, fostering inclusivity and empowerment. This initiative recognizes the role of women in the transportation sector and encourages their active participation.

GPS-Equipped E-Autos: Navigating the Future of Transportation Building on the success of a pilot project involving 1616 E-Autos in areas such as Dwarka, Chattarpur, and Central Delhi, DMRC is now moving to the next phase. The corporation has initiated the appointment of private agencies to operate the remaining 683 E-Autos, including 137 autos exclusively driven by women. These E-Autos will be equipped with GPS systems, ensuring accurate tracking and enhancing passenger safety.

DMRC’s Commitment to Sustainable Urban Transport Delhi Metro’s proactive initiative to expand its E-Auto fleet underscores its commitment to sustainable urban transport. By prioritizing last-mile connectivity and adopting eco-friendly solutions, DMRC is setting a precedent for responsible and efficient transportation. This move not only addresses the immediate needs of commuters but also aligns with broader environmental goals.

As the DMRC gears up for the official launch of these new E-Autos, commuters can anticipate a greener and more convenient travel experience. This initiative represents a significant step towards transforming the urban commuting landscape and fostering a culture of responsible transportation.
