Delhi Metro Introduces WhatsApp Ticketing: A Digital Leap for Commuters

In a significant move towards digitization, Delhi Metro has collaborated with PeLocal Fintech Private Limited to introduce a WhatsApp-based ticketing system. This new service is available in both English and Hindi, covering all 12 metro lines in the Delhi-NCR region. The integration of this technology not only modernizes the metro experience but also opens avenues for future technological enhancements, including real-time updates, personalized travel recommendations, and integrated fare plans.

Buying Delhi Metro Tickets on WhatsApp: A Quick Guide

Step 1: Send a “Hi” message to DMRC’s official WhatsApp number – 9650855800.

Step 2: Select your preferred language from the options provided (English or Hindi).

Step 3: Click on the “Buy Ticket” button, and you’ll be prompted to choose your source and destination stations. Options for Last Journey Tickets and Retrieve Ticket will also be available.

Step 4: Tap on the number of tickets you wish to purchase and proceed.

Step 5: After confirming your details, you’ll be directed to make the payment. A payment link will be generated, and upon completion, you’ll receive a QR-based metro ticket on WhatsApp.

Note: Things to Remember Before Purchase

  1. A maximum of 6 tickets can be purchased for a single journey.
  2. Each ticket is valid until the end of the day.
  3. After entering a gate, you have 65 minutes to exit; failing to do so will result in ticket expiration.
  4. QR-based metro tickets cannot be canceled, so exercise caution during the booking process.
