Yara India Collaborates with FICCI to Shape the Future of Indian Agriculture by 2035

New Delhi, September 19, 2023 – Yara India, a subsidiary of the global crop nutrition leader Yara International, joined forces with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) to host an enlightening knowledge-sharing session titled “Harnessing Agriculture’s Potential – 2035, with a focus on the last mile.” This event, held at the FICCI Federation House in New Delhi, brought together industry experts, thought leaders, and stakeholders to discuss the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in the agricultural sector.

A Vision for the Future of Indian Agriculture

Yara India has consistently been a pioneer in fostering agricultural growth through innovation, community development, environmental sustainability, and the provision of cutting-edge agricultural solutions. The knowledge-sharing session featured esteemed participants representing agricultural think tanks, public sector partners, and value chain collaborators. These experts engaged in discussions concerning the current challenges in the agricultural sector, emerging trends in agribusiness, and potential solutions.

The event comprised two informative sessions and panel discussions with a central focus on the following key topics:

  1. Vision for the Agribusiness Sector in India by 2035: Delving into the long-term outlook for India’s agricultural sector and the transformative opportunities it presents.
  2. Overview of Challenges and Opportunities: Examining the hurdles and potential for stakeholders within the agricultural value chain.
  3. Key Challenges and Transformative Opportunities: Identifying specific challenges and innovative opportunities in the sector.
  4. The Role of Value Chain Partners: Discussing how value chain partners can contribute to the sector’s growth and success.

Sanjiv Kanwar, Managing Director of Yara South Asia, expressed his appreciation for the invaluable contributions of agricultural channel partners who have been serving Indian farmers for over five decades. He commended their dedication and role in bridging the gap between laboratories and farmlands, ensuring timely delivery of essential agricultural inputs.

Mr. Samuel Praveen Kumar, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India, highlighted government initiatives aimed at transforming the agricultural sector and addressing supply chain inefficiencies.

The event also featured insightful presentations by notable speakers, including Shri Arvind Chaudhary, Director General of the Fertilizer Association of India, who emphasized the importance of balanced fertilizer use, and Shri Deepak Verma, Domain Lead – Agriculture at ONDC, who discussed creating an integrated online experience for farmers. Mr. Hemendra Mathur, Chairman of FICCI Taskforce on Startups and Co-Founder of Think Ag, emphasized the pivotal role of technology in the future success of channel partners.
