Vi (formerly Vodafone Idea) has announced a new addition to its prepaid recharge plan worth Rs 839, offering customers the benefit of a free subscription to Disney+ Hotstar. This move brings the Rs 839 plan in line with other Vi plans like the Rs 399 and Rs 499 Hero Unlimited recharge plans, which also include OTT benefits.
To avail the free Disney+ Hotstar subscription, customers must recharge their mobile number using the Vi app. This exclusive benefit is not available through third-party recharge platforms. The subscription will be provided in addition to the plan’s existing features, such as 2GB of daily data, unlimited calls, 100 SMS per day, unlimited night data, weekend rollover data, and access to the Vi movies and TV app.
While the Rs 839 plan itself is not new, the inclusion of the free Disney+ Hotstar subscription aims to make it more appealing to customers. The plan offers a validity of 84 days and provides ample data and calling benefits.
With this update, the Rs 839 prepaid plan joins the ranks of Vi’s other Hero Unlimited recharge plans, such as the Rs 399 and Rs 499 plans. These lower-value plans also offer free access to Disney+ Hotstar for a specific duration. However, unlike the Rs 839 plan, the subscription benefit of these plans is not exclusive to the Vi app. Customers can avail of the benefit regardless of the recharge platform they use.
Vi’s move to provide free OTT subscriptions aims to attract and retain customers by offering additional value-added benefits. As streaming services continue to gain popularity, telecom companies are leveraging partnerships with OTT platforms to enhance their prepaid offerings and provide users with a more comprehensive entertainment experience.
