Microsoft Introduces Bing Chat for Chrome and Safari Web Browsers

Microsoft is making strides in expanding the reach of its Bing AI, as the tech giant rolls out Bing Chat to Google Chrome and Safari web browsers. A recent media publication reported that a new pop-up has been spotted on Windows 10 and 11 taskbars, enabling Bing AI access in Google Chrome, and some Safari users have also reported accessing Bing AI.

According to WindowsLatest, the pop-up on Windows 10 and 11 taskbars allows users to utilize Bing AI within Google Chrome. Testers experimented with Bing AI in Google Chrome’s built-in dark mode, where the white background transforms into a dark shade similar to Microsoft Edge’s new dark theme. Moreover, users have the option to switch themes between light and dark from the Bing menu, offering three theme options – light, dark, and system default, which detects the user’s system preference.

While Microsoft is extending Bing Chat capabilities to Chrome, it does have some limitations compared to Microsoft Edge. In Chrome, Bing Chat only supports five messages per conversation, as opposed to 30 in Microsoft Edge. Additionally, the character count for Bing Chat in Chrome is limited to 2000 characters, whereas Edge supports up to 4000 characters.

It is worth noting that when using Bing AI in Google Chrome, Microsoft displays a prompt encouraging users to “Start exploring in Edge,” with the “Chat now” button redirecting to Microsoft Edge. Despite these limitations, Microsoft confirmed that the rollout of Bing Chat to Chrome and Safari will continue in the coming days or weeks, with the feature eventually being available to all users.

In addition to expanding Bing Chat, Microsoft is working on a new feature known as ‘No search.’ Currently, Bing searches the web for answers to user queries, but with the ‘no search’ feature, Bing will respond using its AI capabilities rather than relying on web searches.

Moreover, Microsoft has introduced Bing Chat Enterprise, a new level of Bing Chat tailored for work purposes. This offering provides organizations with AI-powered chat for work, ensuring business data security and delivering reliable answers with references and visual elements such as graphs, charts, and images.

According to a blog post by Microsoft, Bing Chat Enterprise safeguards user and business data from external leaks, making it a secure and efficient tool for professional communication within organizations.

As Microsoft continues to innovate and improve its Bing AI offerings, users can expect a more streamlined and personalized experience when accessing Bing Chat in Chrome and Safari. With a focus on enhancing AI capabilities and data security, Microsoft aims to provide its users with seamless and reliable solutions for both personal and professional use.
