US-based fashion and lifestyle retailer, JCPenney India, has taken a significant step towards enhancing its innovation capabilities by appointing Kaushik Das as the new managing director. With a focus on harnessing the power of artificial intelligence (AI), Das is set to lead the organization from JCPenney’s Bengaluru office. This move aligns with the company’s commitment to staying at the forefront of technological advancements in the ever-evolving retail landscape.
JCPenney’s Chief Information Officer, Sharmeelee Bala, expressed excitement about the appointment, stating, “We’re thrilled to welcome Kaushik as the new managing director of JCPenney India. We’re confident that he’ll lead the organization with his vision and heart, and look forward to Kaushik leading our Bengaluru center to new heights.”
Kaushik Das brings with him a wealth of experience, spanning over 22 years, in operations, strategy, and business transformation within both the retail and finance sectors. He expressed his enthusiasm for his new role, saying, “With AI changing the retail landscape, I’m looking forward to leading our teams and driving our global transformation strategy.”
Prior to joining JCPenney, Das held the position of Global Senior Director of Operations and Analytics at Giant Eagle, as reported by the Economic Times. He has also contributed his expertise to companies like Target and Kabbage Inc.
JCPenney, an American retail institution established in 1902 by James Cash Penney, has built a reputation for offering a diverse range of products, including apparel, home furnishings, jewelry, cosmetics, and cookware. Since the opening of its Bengaluru office in 2016, the company has made remarkable strides, boasting a workforce of over 700 employees today.
With Kaushik Das at the helm, JCPenney India is poised to leverage AI and innovation to drive its business forward and continue providing customers with exceptional products and experiences.
