Intelsat’s Giant Leap: Revolutionizing Connectivity in Brazil with New Infrastructure

In a significant move aimed at enhancing connectivity options across Brazil, Intelsat, a global leader in satellite and terrestrial network services and inflight connectivity (IFC), has unveiled a series of new services that promise to transform the digital landscape in the region. By combining local support, new teleport facilities, and broader satellite coverage, Intelsat is set to provide reliable and expanded connectivity services to a wider range of users.

Expanding Satellite Capacity for Enhanced Connectivity

The core of Intelsat’s expansion in Brazil is its deployment of new high-throughput satellite capacity, strategically positioned over Brazil and Latin America. This includes satellites such as Intelsat 46e and Galaxy 28. With this enhanced satellite capacity, Intelsat is poised to offer a reliable and robust connectivity backbone that will serve a diverse clientele, including Enterprise, Mobile Network Operators, Media companies, and Commercial Aviation customers.

Building New Teleport Facilities for Efficient Connections

To bolster this expansion, Intelsat has erected a state-of-the-art teleport facility located just outside of Rio de Janeiro. This facility plays a pivotal role in expanding Intelsat’s existing global network, facilitating direct connections between Intelsat’s satellites and Brazil’s local terrestrial networks. This reduction in the distance that user internet traffic must travel promises to deliver faster and more efficient connectivity.

Strengthening Customer Support with an Expanded NOC

Customer support and service accessibility have also been elevated in the region. Intelsat has expanded its Brazil Network Operations Center (NOC) to ensure superior support for regional customers. This move enables 24/7 access to support representatives proficient in five languages, including Brazilian Portuguese, ensuring that customers receive prompt assistance whenever needed.

Fostering Digital Inclusivity Across Brazil

Intelsat’s commitment goes beyond mere infrastructure expansion. The company envisions fostering digital inclusivity by targeting underserved areas and remote regions like the Amazon. The combination of increased satellite capacity, new teleport facilities, and an expanded NOC ensures that customers can deliver higher quality services to more users throughout Brazil. Intelsat’s mission is to empower the broader Latin American region with unparalleled connectivity, bridging the digital divide and reaching those who have been previously underserved.

Addressing the Connectivity Gap

Intelsat also referenced a recent GSMA report, revealing that over 50 million people, roughly 25 percent of the Brazilian population, live within network coverage but do not use mobile internet services. The company firmly believes that the availability of local infrastructure and in-country expertise is a crucial step in improving internet and telecommunication infrastructure across all regions of the country.
