Indus Towers and IOC Phinergy Join Forces for Green Telecom Towers: A Clean Energy Revolution

In an exciting move towards a greener, more sustainable future, Indus Towers, the leading Indian telecom tower infrastructure provider with an impressive portfolio of over 200,000 telecom towers, has partnered with IOC Phinergy (IOP). IOC Phinergy is a promising joint venture between the Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) and Phinergy, a pioneering clean energy company from Israel. Their collaboration aims to deploy 300 cutting-edge zero-emission energy systems, powered by aluminium-air technology, at Indus Towers’ telecom tower sites.

Piloting the Green Revolution

Indus Towers’ commitment to sustainability and its drive to reduce its environmental impact took a significant leap forward with the initiation of this pilot project. As part of this exciting endeavor, 300 energy systems, expertly crafted by IOC Phinergy, will be strategically deployed in the upcoming quarters.

The aluminium-air energy systems furnished by IOP hold the remarkable ability to generate clean energy by harnessing the power of aluminium. They offer a robust, zero-emission energy solution, ideal for ensuring network uptime during both short and prolonged periods of unavailability of grid power for telecom networks. This groundbreaking technology is set to revolutionize how Indus Towers operates, significantly reducing its diesel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, all while maintaining the impeccable quality of service and network uptime that customers have come to expect.

A Commitment to Sustainable Progress

Prachur Sah, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Indus Towers, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “This agreement is a testimony of our commitment to build eco-friendly telecom tower sites by investing in solutions for resource optimization. This is also in line with Indus’ commitment to delivering its services without compromising on network uptime and quality of service to its customers.”

Sanjeev Gupta, Director of IOP, added, “IOP’s clean, long-duration energy solution will contribute to Indus’ commitment to deliver its sustainability goals towards CHG emission through reduction in diesel consumption without compromising on network uptime and quality of service to its customers.”

Clean Energy Systems Redefining the Future

Phinergy is at the forefront of developing clean energy systems rooted in innovative aluminium-air technology for both stationary and mobility applications. These systems, known as Phinergy’s Al-Air energy systems, possess the remarkable ability to generate clean energy from aluminium, presenting a groundbreaking zero-emission energy solution for times when grid power is unavailable for telecom networks.

This partnership between Indus Towers and IOC Phinergy heralds a new era of sustainability in the telecom industry, where commitment to environmental responsibility goes hand in hand with delivering exceptional service to customers.
