Infosys Strengthens Engineering R&D Capabilities with Rs 280 Crore Acquisition of InSemi

In a significant move to bolster its engineering research and development (R&D) capabilities, Infosys Ltd. has announced its acquisition of InSemi Technology Services Pvt., a leading semiconductor design and embedded services provider. The strategic investment, valued at Rs 280 crore, underscores Infosys’ commitment to collaborating with global clients on their digital transformation journey.

The collaboration with InSemi is poised to propel Infosys towards an accelerated chip-to-cloud strategy, enabling the establishment of comprehensive end-to-end product development solutions for clients. This strategic acquisition is expected to be completed during the fourth quarter of the current financial year, as confirmed by the IT major.

Dinesh R, co-delivery head at Infosys, emphasized the significance of the acquisition in the context of emerging technologies, stating, “With the advent of artificial intelligence, smart devices, 5G and beyond, the demand for next-generation semiconductor design services integrated with the embedded systems creates a unique differentiator.” He sees InSemi as a crucial strategic investment that positions Infosys for the next wave of growth and a leadership role in Engineering R&D.

InSemi Technology Services Pvt. specializes in offering end-to-end semiconductor design services, showcasing expertise in electronic design, platform design, automation, embedded systems, and software technologies. The co-founders of InSemi, Shreekanth Sampigethaya and Arup Dash, expressed their enthusiasm about the collaboration with Infosys, stating, “With Infosys as our catalyst, it creates a synergistic combination that allows us to scale and bring the power of AI and engineering R&D and next-generation technology to global clients.”

Following the announcement, Infosys shares closed 1.62% lower at Rs 1,495 apiece on the BSE, in contrast to the benchmark Sensex, which saw a 0.09% advance.
