Atlas Copco Commences Construction of State-of-the-Art Factory in Pune

Atlas Copco, a global leader in compressors, vacuum solutions, generators, pumps, power tools, and assembly systems, is set to bolster its manufacturing presence in India through the establishment of a new factory in Pune.

The construction of Atlas Copco’s cutting-edge air and gas compressor system facility in Talegaon, Pune, has commenced. This state-of-the-art facility is intended to cater to both the local market and international exports. Encompassing a manufacturing plant and an office building spanning an approximate total of 270,000 square feet, the company plans to invest around MINR 1400 (approximately MEUR 15.0) in this venture.

Anticipated to be completed by the second quarter of 2024, the factory is poised to generate employment opportunities for over 200 individuals and significantly enhance production capacity.

Philippe Ernens, President of the Oil-free Air division, shared insights on the new facility, stating, “We are making substantial investments in India to meet the burgeoning demand of both the Indian and international markets. This expansion initiative aligns with our strategy to maintain our position as the preferred choice for our customers. It will facilitate our engagement with new customer segments and markets, leading to improved lead times for our customers.”

Marcelo Kabilio, Vice President of Operations at Atlas Copco India, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the impact of their dedicated teams in designing and producing innovative products at the new factory. He highlighted that these efforts will contribute to supporting customers’ productivity and sustainability objectives.

Prominently demonstrating its commitment to sustainability, the Talegaon facility will rely on solar panels for around 80% of its energy consumption, and rainwater harvesting will provide three-quarters of its water requirements. The construction aligns with the LEED (Leadership in Environmental Energy and Design) principles, further underscoring Atlas Copco’s dedication to eco-friendly practices.
