Varun Grover’s Satirical Take Sparks Conversation on Zomato’s ‘Pure Veg Mode’

Social media platforms erupted with a flurry of activity as users engaged in lively banter over Zomato’s recent announcement of the ‘Pure Veg Mode,’ with stand-up comedian Varun Grover adding his unique flavor to the conversation.

Grover, celebrated for his comedic prowess and sharp social commentary, joined the discussion with a satirical remark, stirring laughter and contemplation among netizens.

In a tweet, Grover quipped, “Can you please ensure that the delivery partners & their families are also pure veg- otherwise they may just be serving khichdi after eating chicken for lunch with the same hands. Also what about the veg status of the farmers who have grown the rice used in pure veg khichdi?”

The comedian’s humorous take on the matter sparked a flood of memes and GIFs across various platforms, illustrating the diverse interpretations of Zomato’s initiative.

Zomato’s ‘Pure Veg Mode’ was introduced by CEO Deepinder Goyal to cater specifically to the needs of vegetarian customers, ensuring their dietary preferences are respected in food preparation and handling.

With India boasting the largest percentage of vegetarians globally, Goyal emphasized the importance of addressing the concerns of this demographic. He stressed the feedback received from vegetarian patrons, highlighting their expectations regarding food safety and purity.

The new feature will facilitate the selection of restaurants offering exclusively vegetarian cuisine, with orders from these establishments handled solely by the ‘Pure Veg Fleet.’ This segregation guarantees that non-vegetarian meals or vegetarian dishes from non-vegetarian eateries do not mix with orders designated for the ‘Pure Veg Fleet.’
