Airtel Introduces Xstream AirFiber: India’s First 5G Wireless Wi-Fi Solution for Fiber Dark Areas

Bharti Airtel, a leading telecommunications company in India, has unveiled its latest offering – the Airtel Xstream AirFiber. This fixed wireless access (FWA) device is equipped with cutting-edge Wi-Fi 6 technology and has the capacity to simultaneously connect up to 64 devices. The launch of Airtel Xstream AirFiber aims to address connectivity challenges in both urban and rural areas, making high-speed internet accessible in fiber dark zones.

One of the notable features of Airtel Xstream AirFiber is its role as India’s first 5G wireless Wi-Fi solution, particularly catering to locations where fiber infrastructure deployment is challenging. The device is expected to bridge the connectivity gap by providing reliable and high-speed internet access, even in areas that were previously underserved.

Shashwat Sharma, the director of Consumer Business at Bharti Airtel, emphasized the significance of this launch, stating, “While fiber to the home will always define the best experience of Wi-Fi at home, AirFiber helps bridge the experience gap for everyone else.” This move is part of the company’s broader strategy to enhance connectivity experiences for its customers.

The Airtel Xstream AirFiber is designed as a plug-and-play device, ensuring easy setup and usage. It operates on Wi-Fi 6 technology, offering extensive indoor coverage. Customers can access the service by visiting select Airtel stores in Delhi and Mumbai, where they can purchase the device and download the dedicated Xstream AirFiber app.

Setting up the device is a straightforward process – users can scan the device’s QR code using their mobile phones or select the Wi-Fi network name on the device. This user-friendly approach ensures that customers can swiftly start enjoying uninterrupted internet connectivity.

In terms of pricing, Airtel Xstream AirFiber offers a monthly plan priced at Rs 799, providing speeds of up to 100 Mbps. Alternatively, customers can opt for a six-month plan at Rs 4,435, accompanied by a refundable security deposit of Rs 2,500. After including the Goods and Services Tax (GST), the total cost comes to Rs 7,733.
