The Waiting Game: Scorpio N and Classic Models See Shorter Queues

The Mahindra Scorpio, a beloved choice among SUV enthusiasts, has been grappling with extensive waiting periods since its introduction in India. However, there’s good news on the horizon – the waiting times for the Scorpio Classic and Scorpio N have significantly decreased. Let’s delve into the latest updates on the waiting periods for these formidable vehicles.

Shorter Waiting Times

In recent developments, the Mahindra Scorpio Classic and Scorpio N models have observed a noticeable reduction in waiting periods. Previously, customers faced extended waiting times, often exceeding a year. But as of now, all waiting periods for these models are comfortably below a year, providing a breath of relief for potential buyers.

Scorpio N Waiting Periods

Previously, in August, Mahindra disclosed that they were operating at maximum capacity, with a backlog of 1.17 lakh Scorpio units awaiting delivery. However, as of October 2023, waiting times for the Scorpio N have improved, with the following waiting periods:

  • Petrol MT: 4-5 months
  • Diesel MT: 5-6 months
  • Petrol AT: Not Applicable
  • Diesel AT: Not Applicable
  • ESP Variants: 9 months

Notably, the ESP variants, equipped with Electronic Stability Program, command the longest waiting period of nine months, regardless of engine or gearbox selection. The more expensive diesel automatic variants offer shorter waiting periods compared to their manual counterparts, with the Z8 diesel automatic variant having a waiting period of eight to nine months.

The Scorpio N offers two engine options: a 203hp, 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine and a 175hp, 2.2-liter turbo-diesel engine. Both engines are available with a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. The diesel engines also offer the choice of 4WD. The pricing for the Scorpio N ranges from Rs 13.06 lakh to Rs 24.51 lakh.

Scorpio Classic Waiting Period

The Scorpio Classic has witnessed a decline in waiting times since May, with both S and S11 variants currently standing at a waiting period of four months.

  • S Variant: 4 months
  • S11 Variant: 4 months

The Scorpio Classic is powered by a 2.2-liter diesel engine, delivering 132hp and 300Nm of torque. It is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox and does not offer an automatic transmission or the 4×4 option available in the Scorpio N. Pricing for the Scorpio Classic starts at Rs 13.25 lakh for the S variant and Rs 17.06 lakh for the S11 variant.

The Mahindra Scorpio N and Classic models have seen significant improvements in waiting periods, offering a more accessible path for SUV enthusiasts to acquire these iconic vehicles. With a broader range of engine options and features, the Scorpio N remains a potent choice, while the Scorpio Classic provides a more budget-friendly alternative. These updates certainly come as welcome news for those eagerly awaiting their turn behind the wheel.
