In a momentous event hosted at the Taj Hotel, Ratan Tata, the iconic figure in the Indian business landscape, pulled the covers off an electrifying revelation – the revamped Nano Electric. This unveiling by Electra EV, a startup specializing in electric vehicle technologies, signifies a groundbreaking leap in sustainable mobility, reviving hopes for an electric Tata Nano.

Electra EV: Pioneering Change in the EV Landscape:

The force behind this transformation, Electra EV, emerges as a trailblazer in powertrains, battery packs, and retrofitting Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) cars, an initiative personally launched by Ratan Tata. The startup has garnered attention for its innovative strides in the EV sector.

Key Features of the Tata Nano EV:

The electric Nano inherits the spirit of the iconic Tata Nano, now powered by a 624 cc engine with a 72V powertrain and a super polymer lithium-ion battery. With minimal alterations beyond the powertrain upgrade, the vehicle promises a range of approximately 160 kilometers on a full charge, accelerating from 0 to 60 km/h in just 10 seconds.

Certifications and Focus:

The Tata Nano EV has received certifications from ARAI and RTO, showcasing Electra EV’s commitment to quality. The startup is currently channeling its efforts into retrofitting services for the focus segment. Impressively, Electra EV’s powertrain played a pivotal role in 25% of all four-wheeled electric vehicles sold in the fiscal year 2022.

While the company aims to introduce 10 Tata Nanos by 2025, the soaring demand for electric vehicles could potentially expedite the process. However, current speculations hint at the Nano EV making its debut in the Indian market around 2025.
