In a bid to enhance road safety and curb traffic violations, the Transport Commissioner has issued a crucial directive mandating the installation of High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) in vehicles purchased before April 1, 2019. Failing to adhere to this directive will attract hefty fines and the possibility of vehicle seizure.
Details of New Traffic Rules
The directive comes in response to the alarming number of vehicles in Tonk district alone, exceeding one lakh, without the mandated high security number plates. This includes a wide array of vehicles such as trucks, cars, bikes, tractors, and autos. To streamline the installation process, vehicle owners can now apply online, with fixed rates established by the Transport Department for authorized dealers.
Benefits of HSRP Plates
The introduction of High Security Registration Plates has significantly facilitated the work of traffic police, enabling them to efficiently identify and penalize vehicles flouting traffic regulations. The unique nature of HSRP plates has also played a pivotal role in reducing vehicle theft, as these plates are designed for single-use and tamper-proof.
Installation Process for Old Vehicles
To comply with the directive, vehicle owners need to follow a straightforward online application process, entering their vehicle details and scheduling an installation date. The allotted installation dates will be determined by the last digit of the vehicle’s registration number. Strict actions are slated for vehicles lacking HSRP plates after the specified timeframe.
Online Application Charges:
- Rs 425 for two-wheelers
- Rs 470 for three-wheelers
- Rs 695 for four-wheelers
- Rs 730 for medium and heavy motor vehicles
- Rs 495 for tractors and agricultural vehicles
HSRP Rules and Guidelines
Driving a vehicle without an HSRP plate now carries severe penalties ranging between Rs. 5,000 and Rs. 10,000.
