Revolutionizing Commute: Dual-Mode Metro and Rapid Rail System Unveiled for Noida-Ghaziabad Route

In a groundbreaking development for the transportation infrastructure in Noida, plans for Uttar Pradesh’s first dual-mode metro and rapid rail system have been unveiled. The finalized route, featuring a three-coach metro and an eight-coach rapid rail, is set to connect Ghaziabad to the Noida Airport, offering a seamless and efficient transit option for commuters.

Unique Blend of Metro and Rapid Rail

The integration of both metro and rapid rail on the same track is a pioneering initiative, showcasing the innovative approach taken by the Noida Metro Rail Corporation. The viaduct has been designed to accommodate the weight of both systems, offering a convenient connection from Ghaziabad, through Greno West, to Noida Airport and benefiting approximately 600,000 commuters.

Speed and Efficiency

The dual-mode track promises varying speeds for the two rail systems, with the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) expected to reach speeds between 140 to 160 km/h and the metro achieving a top speed of around 120 km/h. This strategic integration aims to enhance the overall efficiency of the transit system.

Station Construction and Costs

The proposed rapid rail line features 25 stations, with an estimated cost of INR 40 crores per station, totaling INR 1000 crores. The plan includes 11 stations for the rapid rail and 14 for the metro, all operating on a single track. The ambitious project, spanning 72.2 kilometers and elevated throughout, is set to be completed by 2031 with an estimated construction cost of INR 16,189 crores.

Proposed Stations and Future Connectivity

The rapid rail will stop at 11 strategically located stations, connecting vital areas from Ghaziabad to Noida Airport. Simultaneously, the metro route will include stations from Siddharth Vihar to Ecotech-1E, extending connectivity across the region. Passengers looking to travel beyond the metro’s terminus will be seamlessly transferred to the rapid rail, ensuring a holistic and efficient transit experience.
