Exciting New Cars Arriving in July 2023: Kia Seltos Facelift, Maruti Invicto, Hyundai Exter, and Second-Gen Mercedes GLC

The second half of 2023 is starting off with a bang as several highly anticipated car launches and debuts are scheduled to take place in July. From major facelifts to brand-new models, the automotive market is set to witness a range of exciting offerings across different price segments. Let’s take a closer look at the upcoming cars that will hit the Indian roads this month.

  1. Kia Seltos Facelift Debut – July 4

The much-awaited Kia Seltos facelift, which has been available globally since June 2022, is finally making its way to India this month. The facelifted version comes with a host of cosmetic and feature upgrades, along with a new powertrain option. Expect significant revisions to the front fascia, rear end, and an all-new interior featuring twin connected infotainment screens. Notably, the Seltos facelift will also include the ADAS suite, enhancing its safety features. While the existing 115hp, 1.5-liter petrol and diesel engines will be retained, a new 160hp, 1.5-liter turbo-petrol engine from the Verna and Carens will also be available for the new Seltos.

  1. Maruti Suzuki Invicto Launch – July 5

Maruti Suzuki is all set to enter the Rs 20 lakh-plus price range for the first time with the launch of the Invicto, a premium MPV. The Invicto is essentially a badge-engineered Toyota Innova Hycross, but Maruti will differentiate it by offering only hybrid powertrain options. The flagship MPV will exclusively feature the 183hp, 2.0-liter petrol hybrid powertrain, omitting the lower-spec 172hp, 2.0-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine. Spy shots reveal minimal cosmetic changes, while the interior remains largely unchanged, albeit with new colors for trim and upholstery. The Invicto is expected to competitively price its offering by excluding some high-end features like the ADAS suite.

  1. Hyundai Exter Launch – July 10

Hyundai is ready to introduce its smallest and most affordable SUV in India, the Exter. Sharing its underpinnings with the Grand i10 Nios and Aura, the Exter aims to rival the Tata Punch and Citroen C3. Despite its compact size, the Exter boasts typical SUV styling elements with an upright and boxy stance and prominent body cladding. The interior design is inherited from its sibling models but includes unique features like an all-digital instrument cluster and a dashcam. Powertrain options will be shared as well, featuring an 83hp, 1.2-liter petrol engine with manual and AMT gearboxes. Additionally, Hyundai will offer a factory-fitted CNG kit with the same engine.

  1. Second-Gen Mercedes-Benz GLC

While the exact date is yet to be confirmed, Mercedes-Benz plans to launch the second-generation GLC in India this month. Bookings for the SUV have already begun with a token amount of Rs 50,000. The new GLC will be available in two variants: the GLC 200 equipped with a 2.0-liter petrol engine and the GLC 220d featuring a 2.0-liter diesel engine. These engines produce 204hp/320Nm and 197hp/440Nm respectively, and both variants will come with a 48V integrated starter motor, offering an additional 23hp.

The second-gen GLC showcases larger dimensions, a more luxurious interior, and advanced technology. Its exterior design evolves from the outgoing model, featuring smoother lines and refreshed details. Inside, the cabin closely resembles the new C-Class, with a dominant 12.3-inch instrument cluster and an 11.9-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen for infotainment.

What’s Next?

Beyond these July launches, there’s an exciting lineup of SUVs heading our way in the coming months. The midsize SUV segment will welcome two newcomers: the Honda Elevate and the Citroen C3 Aircross. Tata Motors has major updates planned for its three SUVs – the Nexon, Harrier, and Safari. Furthermore, we can expect to see the launch of the Force Gurkha 5-door and the Punch CNG later this year.

Exciting times lie ahead for car enthusiasts as automakers continue to introduce innovative and feature-packed vehicles, catering to a wide range of preferences and budgets. Stay tuned for the latest updates as these cars hit the showrooms and bring new dimensions to the Indian automotive landscape.
