Pune: The city experienced a pre-monsoon heavy downpour on Tuesday evening, giving relief from warm and humid weather conditions. Coincidentally, it was the Lok Sabha election results day. Thus, it doubled up the joy of winning candidates and their workers.
The monsoon has advanced from Kerala. It will soon arrive in Maharashtra. Pre-monsoon showers are predicted in the State, including in Pune. Heavy showers were witnessed around 4 pm on Tuesday in many city parts, including Bibwewadi, Dhankawadi, Ghorpadi, Market Yard, Shivajinagar, Erandwana, Satara Road, Swargate, Sahakar Nagar, Parvati, Sinhagad Road, Karve Nagar.
Citizens got a respite from warm weather but the city roads got flooded with rainwater.
Advancement of the monsoon
The monsoon has covered areas in the central Arabian Sea, some parts of Karnataka and Goa. It is predicted that it will reach Maharashtra and Telangana in a couple of days. Showers, along with thunderstorms, are likely to occur in several parts of the State.
Rainfall likely in these districts
Isolated rainfall is predicted in the districts of Konkan in the next five days. Heavy rain, accompanied by thunderstorms, is likely in central Maharashtra, Pune, Ahilyanagar, Solapur, Nashik, Kolhapur and Satara. Aurangabad, Beed, Osmanabad, Hingoli, Latur, Nanded, Jalna and Parbhani districts in Marathwada are likely to get rainfall at isolated places. All districts of Vidarbha may receive showers.
