Shukrawar Peth, Pune: A somber atmosphere engulfed the Chinchechi Talim area of Shukrawar Peth as a distressing incident unfolded today, leaving a couple dead in their flat. The police have stated that the husband is suspected to have died by suicide.
The couple has been identified as Hemant Ramakrishna Thorat (64) and his wife Sunita (58), residents near Seva Mitra Mandal. The day began with their neighbors noticing that the door to the Thorat couple’s residence remained closed, raising concerns about their well-being. Attempting to establish contact, the neighbors received no response, heightening their worry. Fearing the worst, they immediately reported the incident to the Khadak Police Station.
Authorities swiftly responded to the distress call, and upon entering the premises, discovered Sunita unconscious. It was later revealed that Hemant had tragically taken his own life by hanging. Urgent efforts were made to rush both Sunita and Hemant to the hospital, but unfortunately, they were pronounced dead before any medical intervention could be administered.
