Pune: Youth jumps into waterfall, dies in Tamhini Ghat (Video)

Pune: Five members of a family were swept away while playing in a waterfall behind the Bhushi Dam in Lonavala on Sunday. While this incident was fresh, another such incident has come to light.

A youth, on a weekend picnic to Tamhini Ghat, was swept away and died in a waterfall. A video clip of this incident has now surfaced. The victim has been identified as Swapnil Dhawde, a resident of Pimpri- Chinchwad.

Swapneel Dhawde visited Tamhini Ghat, along with a group of 32 people from his gym, on Saturday (June 29). Swapneel went missing in the strong current after jumping into the water. In the video clip, he is seen jumping into the waterfall and then getting washed away. It is seen that he was swept into the water while performing the stunt.

Swapnil Dhawde did not anticipate the strength of the current. As the water speed was high, he could not reach the bank. The body of the youth, who drowned in Tamhini Ghat, has been found in Mangaon downstream.
