Pune Municipal Corporation gets Rs 140 crore to acquire land for Katraj-Kondhwa Road work due to MLA Yogesh Tilekar’s efforts

Pune: The state government sanctioned Rs 140 crore to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) for the Katraj-Kondhwa road before the Lok Sabha elections. But, the civic body did not get the funds due to the election code of conduct.

As soon as the elections got over, MLA Yogesh Tilekar followed up the issue with the government, which finally transferred the money to the municipal corporation on Monday (July 1).

The Katraj-Kondhwa Road-widening work started in November 2018 after the then Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis performed the bhoomi-pujan for the project worth Rs 210 crore. But the work of this road was stopped during the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government.

Meanwhile, Yogesh Tilekar had demanded funds for land acquisition for the road work from the state government after the Maha Yuti government returned to power in the state. It was approved in January 2023. Later, the project gained momentum.

Rs 200 crore was allocated for the project in the State Budget of FY 2023-24. The state government sanctioned funds on March 15, 2024 required for the work. However, there was a delay of three months as the government decision was passed two days before the code of conduct of the Lok Sabha polls.

MLA Tilekar followed up with the government after the polls were over. Finally, on Monday, Rs 140 crore was given to the PMC. Tilekar has requested the land owners affected by road-widening work to hand over the land with proper compensation to the civic body as soon as possible.
