Pune: FDA Seizes Gutkha Worth Rs 6.49 Lakh In Bhosari; One Arrested

Pune / Pimpri Chinchwad: In a swift action by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Department, gutkha valued at Rs 6,49,020 was confiscated in the parking space of Vivanta Life Vipul Society in Borhade Wadi Moshi. The operation, conducted on Wednesday around 1:30 p.m., led to the arrest of Kishor Harakchand Sundecha (46), a resident of Borhade Wadi, Moshi.

FDA Food and Safety Officer Ram Khandagale, a 39-year-old resident of Moshi, filed a complaint at the Bhosari MIDC Police Station. Accordingly, the accused has been charged under IPC sections 328, 272, 273, 188, and 34, along with violations of the Food Safety and Standards Act. The alleged Gutkha supplier, Ganesh Gandhi of Thergaon, Pimpri, is also named in the case.

Acting on a tip-off, the FDA team, led by Officer Khandagale, raided the parking lot and searched Sundecha’s Tata Inta V10 (MH14 AU 2042). The operation uncovered a substantial cache of banned Gutkha, deemed hazardous to health, valued at Rs 6,49,020. Sundecha was promptly arrested, and the seized goods were confiscated.

The police are conducting further investigations under the supervision of Police Sub-Inspector Pansare.
