Pune: Growing crime in the city has become a big concern for citizens and a headache for the police. But Commissioner of Police (CP) Amitesh Kumar has said that the police know how to tackle criminals.
Warning goons, Kumar on Wednesday said, “Criminals, don’t test our patience. We appeal to you initially but if you do not mend your ways, you will have to face stringent action. We will show you the real dadagiri.”
Kumar issued a strict warning to those who are involved in illegal businesses. He was speaking at a public interaction in the Yerwada area. He held a dialogue with citizens on social harmony, growing involvement of minors in crime, rising addiction and law and order issues.
Illegal businesses, including drug abuse in pubs and bars, have come to light in recent times in the city. His warning followed these developments. “Goons are making video clips of attacks on others and posting them on social media; thus spreading terror in the city. All sections of society should help maintain peace. Do not test our patience, otherwise we will take stringent action,” said Kumar.
Tension prevailed in the Yerwada area due to a murder, which was the fallout of an inter-religious marriage.
CP Kumar has issued a strict warning to the Crime Branch to take stringent measures against criminal gangs and goons.
