Pune: Banned tourist spots in Bhimashankar area

Pune: Officials from the Bhimashankar sanctuary have become alert after the drowning incident in Lonavala. Many devotees visiting the famous temple also prefer to wander through the wildlife sanctuary and get drenched at waterfalls in the area.

The sanctuary has slippery roads, which may prove risky for tourism. Therefore, the administration has banned entry to the sanctuary for tourists from July 1 to September 30.

They have also been prohibited from visiting dangerous tourist spots. If anyone violates the ban and enters these places will face action under the Wildlife Protection Act. This was revealed by the Bhimashankar Sanctuary Division.

The banned tourist spots are: Kondhwal waterfall, Khopivali area, Chondi waterfall, Nariwali Subhedar waterfall, Padarwadi Nhani waterfall, Padarwadi Shidi Ghat to Kathewadi and Ghongal Ghat Nala Khandas to Bhimashankar road.
