Passenger dies at Pune Metro station

Pune: A 40-year-old passenger died at the Shivajinagar Court Metro station on Monday evening. It is said that the person died in an accident at an escalator.

The deceased has been identified as Manoj Kumar. The police are trying to find the reason behind the accident through CCTV footage. It was learnt that the man suddenly fell from the escalator and died. He was shifted to hospital immediately after the incident.

Kumar was using the escalator at around 6.30 pm on Monday at the Shivajinagar Court Metro station. He fell from the moving stairs. Security guards saw him falling and shifted him to the medical cell at the station. The doctors gave him first aid but decided to shift him to hospital due to his serious condition. However, he died before he could be hospitalised.

Metro officials informed the police about the incident. The police sent the body for a post-mortem to the Sassoon Hospital. But the exact reason behind the death could not be confirmed.

Meanwhile, the police were checking the CCTV footage at the Metro station to find out the reason behind the accident.
