Over 2.5 Lakh New Electricity Connections Provided in the Last 1.5 Years in Pune Division

Pune, 13th July 2023: The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Corporation Limited (MSEDCL) has achieved a significant milestone in the Pune division by providing over 2.5 lakh new electricity connections to customers in the last 1.5 years. According to MSEDCL, a total of 2,56,956 new connections were given to customers during this period. This includes 1,95,986 connections provided in the last financial year, while 60,970 new connections were provided between April and June this year.

To ensure efficient and timely provision of new meters and connections, the Chief Engineer of MSEDCL has initiated bi-weekly review meetings. This proactive approach has led to an increase in the speed at which new connections are being provided to customers. In the last 15 days alone, MSEDCL has provided 14,866 new connections, including 12,596 domestic connections, 1,636 commercial connections, 236 industrial connections, 255 agriculture connections, and 142 other connections.

The average number of new connections issued in the Pune division reached its highest peak last year. Normally, the region sees around 1.5 lakh to 1.75 lakh connections provided annually. However, in the last financial year, the number of connections reached 1.95 lakh. This includes 1,63,166 domestic connections, 21,988 commercial connections, 3,645 industrial connections, 3,867 agriculture connections, and 3,220 other connections. Out of these, Pune city accounted for 1,03,265 connections, Pimpri Chinchwad had 71,280 connections, and Pune rural had 82,411 connections in the last 1.5 years.
