In a devastating turn of events on Samriddhi Highway in Buldhana, a bus fire resulted in the loss of 25 lives. The ill-fated bus was en route from Nagpur to Pune when the accident occurred near Pimpalkhuta village in Buldhana district.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed his deep sorrow over the incident, describing it as both unfortunate and tragic. The bus involved in the accident was a private vehicle known as Vidarbha Express, which had departed from Nagpur. The Chief Minister wasted no time in contacting the Director General of Police and the Superintendent of Police to address the situation promptly. Sadly, 25 individuals lost their lives at the scene, while survivors are currently receiving medical treatment.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the importance of conducting a thorough inquiry to determine the cause of the accident and establish a precise sequence of events. He emphasized the need for immediate medical attention to the injured victims and instructed authorities to verify the identity of the passengers. In a compassionate gesture, the government announced compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the families of those who lost their lives in this tragic incident.
Regarding the accident itself, the bus was traveling from Nagpur to Pune, with passengers hailing from Nagpur, Wardha, and Yavatmal. The ill-fated bus, operated by Vidarbha Travels, collided with a road divider on the Samriddhi Highway near Pimpalkhuta village in Sindkhedaraja. Tragically, the impact of the collision led to a fire engulfing the bus, resulting in the loss of 25 precious lives.
The bus involved in the accident had the registration number MH 29 BE – 1819 and began its journey from Nagpur to Pune at 5 pm on June 30. At approximately 1:22 am on July 1, tragedy struck as the speeding bus collided with the divider on a bridge, causing it to overturn. Within moments of the collision, a fire broke out, leading to a devastating explosion and the loss of numerous lives.
Authorities are expected to launch a comprehensive investigation into the incident to determine the exact cause and sequence of events. Meanwhile, immediate efforts are underway to provide necessary medical assistance to the injured survivors, while support is being extended to the grieving families who have suffered an irreplaceable loss. This tragic incident serves as a somber reminder of the paramount importance of road safety and the urgent need for comprehensive measures to prevent such accidents from recurring in the future.
