Dattawadi Police Station in Pune Renamed to Parvati Police Station

Dattawadi, Pune, June 16, 2023: In response to the persistent demands of local residents, the Dattawadi Police Station in Pune has undergone a name change. The Maharashtra state government has approved the proposal, and the police station will now be known as Parvati Police Station.

Located in the Parvati Tekdi area under the jurisdiction of the Pune Police Commissionerate, the Dattawadi Police Station had caused confusion among residents due to its close proximity to the Dattawadi Chowki. The similarity in names between the two establishments had led to issues of notoriety and misidentification. To address these concerns, community members requested a name change for the Dattawadi Police Station, taking into account the historical and cultural significance of Parvati Hill in the area.

Recognizing the importance of the citizens’ appeal, the state government granted approval to the renaming proposal on June 15. Consequently, the police station formerly known as Dattawadi will now be officially referred to as Parvati Police Station. This decision aims to eliminate confusion and align the station’s name with the rich heritage associated with the Parvati Hill area.
